The video blogs are back! I went a little overboard last night and filmed about eight videos based on what I deal with, what my clients deal with, and what readers tell me they need help with so make sure to subscribe to get them all in your inbox!

This week: How to Create a Vision Board That Works

I made a vision board last week and posted it on Instagram mentioning how I might make a video tutorial out of it. What I got was a very welcoming response so I delivered!  Here are my quick tips on how to make a vision board that actually works:

1. Make time and space to create your vision board.

This is a process so make sure you’ve got enough time to dedicate to it. You may also find it helpful to create a calming atmosphere so you let the creative juices flow (candles, music, incense, whatever!)

2. Get clear about what you actually want.

It’s easy to let other people’s ideas of what THEY think our lives should look like get in the way of what we actually want. Fortunately I’ve got the solution to this.

Take out a sheet of paper and split it into 4 sections. Each section is dedicated to the following sections: relationships, career/money, health/wellness, and spirituality. For each section just write the words and feelings that come to mind. This will serve as a guide while you’re looking for images.

3. Let go of any expectations.

This isn’t something to stress about! Just let it go and have some fun with it!

4. Do not edit yourself.

Be yourself! You’re not doing yourself or anyone else a favor if you’re not being honest about what you want.

5. Put it into practice!

Be open and receptive to the steps it will take to make your vision board a reality. It won’t just happen by itself, you definitely have a part to play in this whole thing!

6. Ignore your itty bitty shitty committee.

Acknowledge your fearful thoughts, let them go, and move on.

Finally, make sure to put this vision board somewhere where you’ll actually see it. I have it in my bedroom and it serves as a constant visual reminder of what I’m working toward.

Neato! I made a vision board in June, and I have added to it since then. I flip through magazines and constantly clip things that I can add when I have time. I love that it’s a work in progress!

That’s the way to do it! I’m afraid it’s kind of an addiction :)
