{MMYH Ep. 63} How To Have A Prosperous Year In 2019

by Amanda Abella  - January 8, 2019

It’s a new year! It’s also the perfect time to tell you that this is a new year of endless opportunities for you, your business, and your money. Money goals are some of the top New Year’s resolutions that people make, alongside fitness. These are the top two things, mainly because people can measure them and in the case of money, it literally affects every single area of your life.

And 2019 may be the year that you have really big goals in terms of what it is that you want to achieve financially in your business. So I’m going to detail how I met my income goal for 2018, and how I exceeded it by tens of thousands of dollars. Here’s how to have a prosperous year in 2019.

Get Clarity

So the first thing you need to do to have a prosperous year is to get clarity around what it is that you want in 2019 financially. And by clarity, I mean you need to know the dollar amount that you are aiming for. So for example, in 2018, I wanted to bring in $100,000. Actually, I wanted $100,000 in revenue. I wasn’t even thinking about profit yet. I was just thinking about revenue. For me, I wanted a six-figure business. I was tired of overworking. I wanted six figures and I wanted to do it with more ease.

To achieve that, I had to become aware of this limiting belief I had of working super hard, sacrificing my financial life, and offering my services and products “on the cheap”. Now, I’m making more money than ever and I’m also working less than ever. Now, it will still require work to build up your business. Money is not going to just fall into your lap. But the first key is we need to get clear on the amount of money that we want to make. And then, we need to set aside any beliefs that we may have about how difficult it’s going to be to make that money.

So let’s say you want to earn six figures in 2019. At the very least, that would be $100,000. After you make the decision, you have to act in accordance with that decision. So what are the actions that you need to take to get to $100,000? And again, this is where that story comes in of thinking, “I’m going to have to work 7 days a week, 18 hour days.” And that’s not necessarily true. Maybe you just need to create something you could charge a lot of money for. That’s a way easier way of doing it. Trust me. This is actually what I teach my clients in my Persuade to Profit program.

For example, if you’re charging $49 for something, you’re going to have to find a lot of people to buy your product. But if you’re charging $4,900, you don’t have to convert as many and you can make more money. So that would be an example of how not to overwork our way into more money. That is a way of working smarter and not harder.

Decide How You’re Going To Sell

Once you’ve gotten clarity on what you want and started creating your offering, it’s time to know how you’re going to sell. If you’re not actually closing sales and if you don’t learn how to do that, you will stay broke because sales are how you get money. So if you say you want to have a prosperous year in 2019 and make $100,000, it’s time to start selling.

This is the fastest way to get money in the bank. I’ve tried everything. I’ve tried the affiliate marketing, I’ve tried the lower price point products. That only led to me overworking myself. But once I started looking at it from the perspective of, “Let me just create something I could charge a lot of money for and then I have to convert fewer people”, that’s when I started seeing five figures, and eventually, six figures. That’s when I started seeing that kind of money without overworking or stressing myself out.

Learn How You Self-Sabotage

Now, the next thing you need to do is become hyper-aware of how you self-sabotage. We all self-sabotage when it comes to money. We assume it’s going to take way too much work to make money. Or that money doesn’t grow on trees. And of course, most of us are people pleasers. Many of our customers are not properly compensating us for the work that we have to do. And yet, our kneejerk reaction is to say yes, right, or to overdeliver in hopes that they will give us more money. And it does not work that way at all.

You need to approach your business from a situation of a fair exchange of value. Does that mean that you don’t get clients really good results? No, of course not. You’re not gonna half-ass this work. But if you overwork yourself, what ends up happening as a result of that is that you get resentful and then you do it again and it’s this horrible, vicious cycle. So that’s one of the ways that people self-sabotage.

So how do we get out of self-sabotage? The way that you get out of self-sabotage is, number one, becoming aware of how you do it. Then you have to become more mindful on a moment by moment basis. Here’s the thing, the universe is going to give you endless opportunities to get the lesson. And there’s no blaming other people. This is all about taking personal responsibility for the actions that we take and how we sabotage our financial abundance, right.

If you want to have a prosperous year in your business, or if you want to have a successful life, period, you must take personal responsibility. The people who do really well in business, in life, in relationships, etc, have taken a different level of personal responsibility than the average person. So that’s the final step. Start becoming aware of how it is that you self-sabotage and then become mindful on a moment by moment basis. When those opportunities for lessons come up, that is your opportunity to get it together.

These easy steps are going to help you reach your business goals and have a prosperous year in 2019. Life, and your business, don’t have to be difficult. Keep these tips in mind, and go crush this year and your goals!
