It is both an art and science to build a successful business. I’ve found that some people get stuck in one or the other, thinking that there’s only one way to thrive. However, to really build a successful business, you need more than one “thing” to turn it into what you want. Here are the 7 pillars you need to build a successful business (according to me).
If your mindset isn’t right when it comes to money, you aren’t going to be making the money you want to make. Period. How do I know? Because I’ve seen it myself. I’ve seen people work so hard, but they’re still broke. Maybe they’re worried about competition, lack of money, or something else.
When you don’t have the right mindset, money isn’t going to come to you, you won’t invest in yourself, and you won’t go after what it is you really want to do, because you’ll be too scared that the “money” isn’t right. But in reality, it’s your mindset.
When people meet me, they’re always saying how I’m the exact same online and in person. I don’t take myself too seriously, and I don’t try to be perfect. I curse, I joke a lot, and I wear the same clothes sometimes! And that’s okay!
Accepting me for me has opened so many doors for me, because I wasn’t faking being something I wasn’t, and people saw my authenticity. They then decided to work with me, just because I was being me!
Nothing happens without faith. Now, I’m not saying you can just pray your way into more money. It does take more work than that. But you can ask for guidance and then you can take inspired action. You also can’t keep messing up and then praying to God (or whatever higher power you believe in) to fix it for you.
You Need A Brand Story
Don’t hide behind a company name if you want to build a successful business! No one cares about the name. They want to know what your story is. Where you come from. How can you benefit them? What’s your emotional appeal? That’s the key to marketing and marketing correctly. And by telling your story, you need to tell the full and true story about yourself.
Doing this not only helps your audience relate and resonate with you, but it also helps you achieve self-acceptance.
To build a successful business, you need structure in the business itself. You need systems, tools, and even outside help. You NEED organization. For example, it took me years to earn 6-figures in my business. It’s not that I didn’t have the time or mindset, but I didn’t have the right structures in place to allow me to earn the money I wanted to earn. If you really want to grow and scale your business, you need the structure of a 5-figure, 6-figure, or 7-figure business.
If you’re not selling, you’re not making money. It could be online, via the phone, whatever. You need to learn how to sell something and sell something well. You have to know how to negotiate, close deals, find leads, and how to prospect. You also need to learn your market very well and know what you’re selling to them. Does that sound overwhelming? Probably. But it doesn’t have to be if you take the time to learn the right way.
You need a team or some type of outside support. I have a VA that has held it down for me, I have PR people, I have a manager, I have a sales associate, I have a full-time in house team member, and I even have a CPA. All of these people help me be a better business owner and also help me build a successful business because they take on what I can’t or won’t do. They also work in their zones of genius, so I know I can trust them to get their tasks done and done on time.
You also need support in your real life. The real world is going to try to keep you small. But the people in your inner circle that are supportive and love you will support you and help you along your journey. If you don’t have those people right now, find them. Join a mastermind, hire a mentor, something. But find them.
So there you have it, the 7 pillars that you need in order to build a successful business. Yes, you need ALL of them to create and sustain the business that you want to create for yourself!
