Scaling Your Business and Selling Like a Hunter

How I Scaled my Business

At first, I doubled down on freelancing for a while. Then if anybody did come for my coaching, it’s because they were already on fire and asking me for it, but I didn’t pursue coaching full-time at that point because I wasn’t aware that I could scale coaching into a seven-figure business.

Forget making seven-figures, or even six because I couldn’t close and I didn’t know how to handle objections. I was also really overwhelmed and wasn’t sure what I was doing. I went through a significant rebrand, but instead of creating my rebrand based on business tactics, I did my rebrand based on my coaching certification program.

That was a mistake because coaching certification only teaches you coaching skills. They don’t teach you a damn thing about branding, marketing, and sales. It was so fucking corny it had flames and all this crazy shit.

Learn how I got 300 leads in a day with referral partners.

This free guide details the 8 step process I used to build a network of referral partners that have sent me up to 300 leads in a day.

I surrendered and conceded to getting a regular job. Then I suddenly started getting a bunch of freelance gigs, and I doubled my income.

My good friend and business best friend LaDawn says that “There’s a moment where we have to say, OK God, I’m not lazy, you know, I’ll do the work, but I surrender this to you. I need a roadmap here.”

When I Realized I Needed to Scale My Business

I’d built quite a name for myself in the financial space by that point. When I tell you, my hands were cramping from the amount of writing I was doing; my hands were cramping. I am not kidding.

So I thought to myself that I needed a system, a process but I didn’t exactly know what that looked like or what that meant. I knew I needed to hire somebody to help me figure it out.

Even though 2020 has been a weird fucking year for everybody, my accountant told me this morning not to worry because I always have money. And even if I don’t have money, I’ll find it.

The guiding compass for me, the beat of my business, has always been focused on bringing in new business. Many entrepreneurs and even some established companies miss that concept as they get distracted by the shiny bright object syndrome.

The Importance of Closing Your Sale

When talking about closing, I think there’s a different way men sell than women sell.

There’s not to say that one is wrong and one is right, but there are gender elements that come into play.

Hiring a Coach: The Biggest Game Changer for Me

I hired a coach whom I knew was good at systems, and I knew her from the financial space. I understood that’s the help I needed to grow and scale my business. My brain now is such a strategic thinker. We work with clients inside my system, and we work with our clients to build systems inside their business that work for them.

Creating a Roadmap for a Focused Business System

When I first created Persuade to Profit, the course was a hot ass mess. My mentor took one look and was like, what the hell is this? This is like 800 modules long! Since I didn’t have the roadmaps, my course was an unorganized mess. With a roadmap, I was able to fine-tune and focus on learning objectives and build an organized course.

Make the Leap if You Want Money to Appear

Leap first, and the money appears! I recognized this while I was creating Persuade for Profit for the second time. The opportunity fell into my lap.

I had done this visualization for the home I wanted to live in that I knew exactly what I wanted. And again, I surrendered and released it. Five weeks later, I got a DM from the person who would be my roommate.

Watch Out for Business Disconnect

A significant disconnect that happens in the business space is not balancing visualization and work. It would be best if you had a blend and balance of the two to find success in your endeavors.

You have to know what you desire or want for your life, and the business funds will come along. But what happens a lot in the online coaching space is focusing solely on vision and desire that the work gets left to the curb.

So how do you blend the two of vision with action?

I started experimenting with vision and work to find the right balance. Visualization, yoga, chakras. What the fuck? A whole world opened up to me! And I think for me, the scary part was that I was raised Catholic, and I wasn’t sure if this was okay to do. It didn’t even have anything to do with the business. It was more like my own weird-ass relationship with religion. I wasn’t even thinking about that, but I discovered meditation always kept me in check.

I practice visualization every morning, as it keeps me in check and puts me in good energy. That has helped me, particularly when things get complicated.

We tend to attract great fits, but it’s because of the energy I put out. I decide what fucking energy I’m leading with, and then that attracts the right clients. Yesterday I was training my sales team, and I’m like, are you stepping in with authority? Are you doing that right? Are you just assuming the sale? Are you assuming you’re making money today? Do you believe you’re talking to the right people today?

Selling Like a Hunter

There’s a difference between hunters and gatherers, and you need to sell a team of hunters. Please don’t wait for you to give them tools as they don’t wait for you to tell them when the club, I don’t even wait for you to raise your hand. No, they need to know what is my target move out of my way.

Talk them out, especially for having online programs and being, you know, an online coach, people may say, but you’re, you know, you’re way more than that. Like how do you walk that fine line of needing digital marketing?

With any sales, but especially online marketing, you have to build rapport in traditional sales by being liked, finding the commonality, and building trust. I was speaking to someone who is a financial advisor the other day, and the way her company has it set up is to have a Coffee chat, and then they have the actual sales call, and I’m like, fuck that!
