Ladies, we’re running real businesses, so we need to value our time. Many of us have been letting our calendars run us instead of us running our calendars, so here’s how you can change that around to make your time work for you.

This free guide details the 8 step process I used to build a network of referral partners that have sent me up to 300 leads in a day.

Managing Your Time to Build Your Business

To build a business you want, you want to ensure you’re running your calendar. I don’t want you to make the same mistake that I did by getting into a few bad habits with time management when I basically let my calendar run my life instead of me running the calendar.

I’ve seen this happen with women business owners that have teams. When you let your time run you, it keeps you broke. You need to stick to your calendar to get ahead in your business.

How to Time Block Your Time

You need to time block with a calendar. Whether you’re using a paper or digital calendar, use one! We have Google calendar, and I use a paper planner as well. Make sure to time block the activities and meetings you’re doing in your business and personal life so you don’t have a conflict. So, for example, from 6 am to 9:00 am, I wake up, eat breakfast, and exercise. Then I meditate and do my skill set training and mindset training.

At 9 am I’ve got a team meeting, which I keep at around 20 minutes. For the first couple of hours of every work day, I do sales activity. All I’m doing is going out there and getting new money, putting myself in front of new people, and making new connections.

That’s it. And in the afternoon I’ve got sales meetings. Now that that’s generally what I do in a day, Mondays are a little bit different because I’ve got my mastermind clients when we’re running Persuade to Profit, which by the way, we’re enrolling for the next round. I’m done by five o’clock, and then I have my personal time. I’ve even gotten to a point where I schedule my fun time on the weekends lately!

So when your time block, you have to take control of how much time it’s taking you to do the activities on your weekly schedule.

Prioritizing Activities for Your Work Day Schedule

Part of what’s going on is y’all don’t even know what you’re supposed to be doing in any given part of the day. Then you’re getting easily distracted. Next, you have to figure out where your priorities are.
If you are in business. I tell all my clients this, if you’re not spending 80% of your time on income-generating activities, I don’t know what you’re doing. I don’t know if you’re tinkering with a website, messing with a funnel, or trying to build a whole website.
On any given day, 80% of your time needs to be spent on income-generating activities. It’s not even creating content. Creating content is a part of the marketing strategy. Still, it’s technically not an income-generating activity because you’re not actually having a conversation with someone who can pay you.

So 80% of the time needs to be spent on growing the business and the activities that actually lead to more money in the bank. Now, I find that a lot of women business owners can’t do this because they don’t have the proper business model. You’re in business models where you’re running yourself into the ground, is what’s going on. Sometimes when I find women are really struggling with time management, they are not in the right business model.

Creating Boundaries Around Your Work and Personal Time Blocks

The next time management topic we are going to discuss is boundaries. I have spoken to so many women in the last couple of weeks who literally apologize for taking up space, and honestly, we need to stop doing this!

Ladies, you are allowed to take up space! Stop being invisible! There are so many of you out there who do not take a stand for what you want to do with your time. You do not take a stand for yourselves or your priorities.

That can lead to becoming little wallflowers, and then you become invisible and let people run over you. They disrespect you and your time. And that is not what we’re trying to create.

At some point, we learned that it was okay to be invisible in our society or in our personal environment growing up. We decided that our needs did not matter. We need to realize that our needs matter, so we have to prioritize them and set the boundaries in place, so we are not disrupted. And finally, it’s about taking responsibility.

How to Take Responsibility for Your Time Management

It’s about taking responsibility for your time which is proportional to your self-worth. So here’s the thing – wealthy people know their time is more valuable than money. And often, when women entrepreneurs struggle with managing their calendars, it may be because they don’t see their time as valuable, and they’re not taking responsibility for that.

If you’re not valuing yourself, that will show up in your calendar. You can start making changes to fix this scenario today. Maybe it’s prioritizing or giving yourself more time for sales. Look at what you are filling your time with daily and make adjustments to get your business growing. And if you’re not sure what you’re doing with your time, track your time in a notebook.

Those are some of my tips on how to take back control of your calendar. Let me know which tips you are going to be implementing.
