Time Management Secret 1: Start making data driven decisions.
The biggest issue we find with our 6 and 7 figure clients struggling with work life balance is they have no idea what is actually going on in their business.
Getting to a six-figure business usually requires a lot of grind, hustle and experimentation to figure stuff out. Often, times a lot of 7 figure businesses also got there by grinding.
Just recently we were talking to a 7-figure training business interested in working with us that grew very quickly and thus, they don’t really know what is going on which is leading to a lot of chaos behind the scenes.
The solution is to look at every single piece of data we can, to determine what is working and what isn’t. From there we can start making more informed decisions.
Here are some of the questions we ask our Effortless Sales Engine clients to help them with this:
Who has paid you?
Who paid you the most of money?
Who paid you the most amount of money that you liked working with them?
Where did those clients come from?
Time Management Secret: Re-arrange your calendar according to the data for optimal work life balance.
Once you’re clear on what is and isn’t working in your business, you can start adjusting your calendar accordingly in order to achieve your desired version of work life balance.
For example, more often than not, when we walk our clients through the exercise in the last section, they realize they can remove a lot of the random marketing tasks they’ve been doing.
When I did it for myself, I realized I could spend most of time building my YouTube channel and referral partner network instead of dancing on TikTok.
Once you have that data, then consider some of the following questions and suggestions to achieve further work life balance:
How do you actually want to live your life?
Track your energy, body and brain function.
How much capacity do you have to work?
For example, I know I have about a good 6 hours of work on average in me. Once I hit that six hour threshold I start going into diminishing returns and even experience brain fog.
So that means Monday through Thursday, I have to fit the activities that actually move the needle into those six hours of work where I’m actually efficient.
Time Management Secret: Use this data to filter requests.
Once you have the data and determined your schedule, now you have a system by which to filter requests. If you’re anything like me, you probably get a lot of requests and people wanting your attention.
Obviously, not every opportunity is a good opportunity, so I use my newfound filtering system to make decisions.
Does the request fit into what we are trying to do?
Does it fit into our weekly calendar?
Does it help us achieve our target?
If the answer is no, we say no.
The reason why people are overcommitted is because they do not have clarity of what is working and not working in your business.
So they end up saying “yes” to too many things without actually knowing whether or not it will yield results.
Because they also don’t track their results, then the vicious cycle continues.
